Burundi - Kibingo - Yeast Washed

Kibingo Station is a caffeine oasis in Kayanza,Burundi's northern province next to Rwanda. This collection site for local farmers numbers in the thousands and produces mostly rustic, old-fashioned heirloom bourbon coffees. It's situated around 1900 meters above sea level, and many of the farmers' plantings are even higher than that! This iconic spot was christened Kibingo thanks to the reeds that line the nearby river, planted to prevent erosion. Established in the mid 1980s, Kibingo made recent history, taking top honors in the Burundi Cup of Excellence competition. A remarkable feat indeed!
